Sun 12″ Djembe is a wooden percussion instrument designed for musicians who value convenience without compromising sound quality. The key feature of this model is a simplified membrane tension system using a standard 10mm wrench, plus the ability to play it like a darbuka — held under the arm. No more rope tightening: the instrument can be tuned quickly and precisely — on stage, at home, or in the studio — with no traditional lacing skills required. Made of wood, with composite and metal components at key structural points. The membrane is goatskin and can easily be replaced with another type (plastic, synthetic) on your own. The hybrid tension system distributes force evenly across the entire perimeter of the djembe, avoiding concentrated tension at a single point on the membrane. Compact size and comfortable weight make it easy to transport. These are handmade instruments, so some measurements may vary slightly. Main parameters are adjusted before production, everything is agreed upon in advance…

User guide

  • A new instrument needs a break-in period — the ropes may need occasional tightening around the perimeter using the braiding method. The drum already has a few knots on it to serve as a reference.
  • If the djembe gets wet, dry it at room temperature without loosening the membrane.
  • Keep away from fire, sudden temperature changes, and moisture — natural skin does not tolerate these conditions.
  • Do not sit on the instrument or drop it.
  • Try to use the carry bag whenever possible.
  • Play only with clean hands, without bracelets or rings.
  • Transport lying down.
