Kalipso Bass Pedal – a compact, external system designed for playing bass lines with your foot on percussion drums.
Its compactness allows the mechanism to be placed inside a cajon or a backpack for transportation. The beater and pedal are connected by a cable transmission, which is easy to assemble. The striking mechanism itself is attached to the drum with a “clamp” that adjusts to your musical instrument and prevents it from slipping off during play.
The mobility and versatility of the Kalipso pedal lie in the speed of installation on the drum from any side on any surface, for both right and left feet.
The following adjustments are available: cable tension, anti-slip fixation, footboard angle adjustment, pedal stroke, and a removable beater with attack adjustment.
A soft beater is included (good for wooden musical instruments), which you can replace with another one on your own.
The entire mechanism is quite simple with a minimal number of moving parts, which guarantees reliability. A minimum of connections allows for a good output impulse and, accordingly, excellent stroke control.
The Kalipso bass pedal is not demanding in operation, is not afraid of corrosion, and can be used on any surface in any weather. All moving mechanisms are securely protected.
There is a version of the Kalipso pedal for permanent installation inside a cajon. The hammer mechanism is fixed inside the percussion, and the pedal is brought outside through the bass port — taking up very little space. The external pedal can also be stored inside the body for transportation.
User Manual:
- keep clean
- do not drop, do not disassemble
- press the bass pedal with feel (moderately)
- when disconnecting parts, loosen the cable by pressing the “hammer”
- avoid ghost notes/idle strokes
- under active use, occasionally lubricate the shuttle mechanisms and cable (with thick machine oil)
