Asalato Kashaka (other names: patica, banakulas, kos-kos, televi, kashaka) is a dual-chamber, native, percussion instrument of the strike type with a rich sound and compact dimensions. It is similar to a shaker with a “clack” effect, capable of expanding a rhythmic pattern as an accessory or serving as its foundation for lead parts.

Kashakas create rattling sounds and percussive clicks by swinging the balls around the hand, causing them to strike each other. They are used with one or both hands for variety. Although asalato are typically considered percussion instruments, they are also skill-building tools that can help improve dexterity, ambidexterity, brain hemisphere synchronization, and the ability to multitask. They can also build muscle mass and improve the flexibility of the hands, shoulders, and chest. It is even considered a meditative tool capable of creating a trance state, promoting relaxation, and reducing stress levels.

This kashaka model is made of composite materials that are resistant to temperature changes and easy to maintain. The rope length can be adjusted for different hand types, and the ropes (knots) are hidden inside the body for convenience. The internal filler can be changed at your request, allowing you to create “your own sound.” The size is standard and suitable for most musicians, but it can be changed if desired.
